An assessment for the newborn or infant may involve screening to review progress in meeting movement, coordination, activity, musculoskeletal or developmental milestones expected by age or stage.
For mother–baby dyads experiencing biomechanical sucking difficulties, examination may also include assessment of the baby’s suck, swallow, breathing, tongue and jaw range of motion and function, and a thorough oral assessment.
Kirsty is currently undertaking research with a focus on osteopathy and breastfeeding.
More information to be provided in coming months.
We offer a range of clinical services, which may include manual therapy treatment. We also offer support before and after tongue and lip tie release including hands-on care and exercise prescription.
For families requiring additional lactation advice, Dr Emily Jones (Osteopath & IBCLC) offers combined osteopathy and lactation support appointments.
To ensure you and your child get the best care, we work in association with other health professionals. These include general practitioners, paediatricians, maternal and child health nurses, lactation consultants, paediatric dentists and speech pathologists. This may include referral to other health professionals in helping supporting mother and baby.
